MON PT 1: Is Bobby Having A Gender Reveal Party? + Our 4 Favorite Movies + Can You Sue For Ex Stealing Child-Bearing Years? + Bobby May Have Re-Injured His Ankle

7 Prolific Quotes from Unlikely Movies + Movie Review: Running Man + Trailer Park: Michael

Movie Mike Deestro is revisiting 7 movie quotes that carry surprisingly deep truths about life, purpose, and perspective. He goes through each quote and the deep lessons he got from movies you wouldn’t expect from Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle to Pokémon: The First Movie! In the Movie Review, Mike talks about The Running Man starring Glen Powell. It’s the remake of the 1987 movie about a man who joins a game show in which contestants, allowed to go anywhere in the world, are pursued by "hunters" hired to kill themMike talks about the good and bad of Glen’s performance, why it doesn’t quite feel like an Edgar Wright movie, where it lost him but why he thinks Glen should be in the MCU and what superhero he should play.  In the Trailer Park, after years of waiting, we finally got our first look at the Michael Jackson biopic "Michael." The King of Pop's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, plays the pop legend. Other cast members include Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones, Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney, and Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson. Will this be the music biopic we’ve been waiting for and will it be the first music biopic to make $1 Billion Dollars at the box office?

Write Your Story: Why Story Outweighs Advice Every Single Time

We hesitate to tell our stories for a thousand reasons. It’s vulnerable, for starters, and we hate the feeling of giving others power over us.

We decide ahead of time that our story isn’t that interesting, that nobody else would care besides us, and that our situation is 100% unique to our experience.

But what if wisdom is buried inside of your personal story?

What if keeping your story secret is hiding that wisdom, even from you?

Today’s episode explores this topic and encourages you to take a single step to unpack the miracle that is your personal story.

FEELING THINGS: Kat’s Creating Joy & Amy’s Revisiting Old Wounds

Amy and Kat are both feeling merry this week!! Kat because she just had the staycation of her dreams and she’s already decorated for Christmas (she’s in a season of creating as much joy as possible)! And Amy’s feeling merry because, well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! However, she had some anxiety pop up around something she thought she’d worked through, so she shares about those feelings as well. Kat reminds her that healing isn’t about being “done” with a feeling…it’s about knowing how to move through it now. When familiar feelings show up again, it doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning. It’s just a new moment to practice showing up differently…with more awareness, more tools, and more kindness for yourself.

Also in this episode: a cozy stovetop simmer recipe (see below!), the move to make out of a second story should there be a fire (random, but helpful), and a thoughtful email from new listener Dave, who shares how burnout shifted his relationship with work and a reminder to actually communicate needs in a relationship…men aren’t mind readers.

Smells Like Christmas: A Cozy Simmer Pot Recipe

1 large orange, sliced

3–4 cinnamon sticks

1 cup fresh cranberries

1 tablespoon whole cloves

2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or a handful of pine needles if you’re feeling extra festive)

Water to fill the pot

How To:

Combine everything in a medium pot.

Fill with water until ingredients are just covered (leave about an inch from the top).

Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

Reduce to low and let it quietly bubble away (uncovered) as long as you’d like.

Keep an eye on it and add more water as needed so it doesn’t dry out.

Pro tip…you can reuse the same pot a few times! Just pop it in the fridge overnight and add fresh water before reheating.

This little ritual makes your whole house smell like orange, cinnamon, and nostalgia. It’s one of those small, sensory things that makes the holidays feel like the holidays.

MOVIE MIKE: Franchises with the Most Films + Movie Review: Predator: Badlands + Trailer Park: Scream 7

Mike talks about the Top 10 Film Franchises with the movies each. From Star Wars to James Bone. He plays the game: Dead, Alive or Revive when deciding which of them have peaked and which still have life in them that we’re not burnt out on watching.  In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Predator: Badlands starring Elle Fanning. It’s set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator, cast out from his clan, teams up with a humanoid robot on a dangerous mission to find the ultimate enemy. Mike talks about how you can hop into this movie without seeing any other Predator film, the language that was created for it and how it unexpectedly had a lot of heart.  In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Scream 7 where Ghostface is back and so is Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. This time the killer is after her daughter. Mike talks about how the Scream franchise keeps sucking him back in after he thought he was done and why we are doomed for constant reboots and sequels.
