There's more bad news for United Airlines. Though not quite as dramatic as a screaming passenger being pulled for a plane, the same week a scorpion stowed away on a flight, fell out of an overhead bin, landed on a passenger's head and later stung him.
It happened to Richard Bell, who was traveling with his wife to Calgary from Houston, after spending a two-week vacation in Mexico.
Bell picked the creature up by the tail and then dropped a plate on it when a fellow passenger warned him of the danger. For some reason, he attempted to pick it up again and it stung him in the finger, but mostly got his nail.
A flight attendant eventually covered up the critter with a cup and later squashed it.
Bell was taken to the hospital, but was told he'd be OK. In this case, United did the right thing and gave the couple flying credit for their inconvenience.
Sadly with all the bad PR they've been getting lately, I wonder they didn't offer the passenger the famous $800 buy off!
Will the airline ever recover from all the bad press? Maybe this can all be a lesson to all airlines about quality and service they offer passengers, what do you think?!
