Reba McEntire reunited with another former Reba cast mate on an episode of Happy’s Place.
McEntire famously played the title character of the beloved early 2000s sitcom. She starred as Reba Hart, alongside Christopher Rich (Brock Hart), Melissa Peterman (Barbara Jean Booker Hart), Steve Howey (Van Montgomery), JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery), Scarlett Pomers (Kyra Hart) and Mitch Holleman (Jake Hart). The show premiered in 2001, and the finale aired in 2007.
Some of the Reba stars have made guest appearances on Happy’s Place, a sitcom that premiered in October 2024. McEntire stars as Bobbie, who “inherits a restaurant from her late father, then learns she must share ownership with a newly discovered half-sister, creating awkward tension between the two.” The cast also includes Peterman, plus McEntire’s real-life fiancé Rex Linn, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and more.
Garcia Swisher, who played McEntire’s eldest daughter on Reba, appeared in the newest Happy’s Place episode on Friday (March 13). Garcia Swisher appeared as an influencer aiming to help McEntire’s character promote the tavern.
McEntire said in an interview with iHeartCountry last year that the key to a successful sitcom is “the writing. If it’s not on the page, it’s not on the stage.” She said stories are told in “a great voice of comedy and heart. …That’s what I love so much about the Andy Griffith Show, (for example), how he raised Opie – I used that raising my son – but it is very important to have heart in there. You gotta laugh, but you gotta cry. You’ve got to hit all of those emotions.
“I’ve got to listen to the arc of the second season, and it’s gonna be good,” McEntire teased ahead of the second season’s premiere, which tool place in November 2025. “And all of the characters – and I do call us ‘characters,’ the actors, we are characters in our own right. We’re so diversified that we bring to the table something in real life that I think comes through on the screen. …We love each other. We respect each other’s opinion on things, their individual lifestyle, their background, their heritage. It’s a fun family.”
Happy’s Place airs on NBC and is available to stream on Peacock. NBC announced last month the show has been renewed for a third season. Watch a clip featuring Garcia Swisher shared by NBC here:
