Carly Pearce offered a sneak peek of a heart-wrenching breakup ballad thatās set to appear on her upcoming deluxe album.
Pearce said she wrote the unreleased song, āIf Looks Could Kill,ā a few years ago. She shared a clip of the track on TikTok on Wednesday evening (March 5). Commenters gushed that they have āgoosebumps,ā that the Grammy-winning artist never disappoints, and vulnerably shared how Pearceās music has helped them through heartache. Pearce sings in the brief clip: āI say Iām fine/ But if looks could kill, Iād be six feet under/ Seeing you happy is hitting me harder/ Than I thought that it would/ You make moving on look too good/ And if looks could kill, Iād be pushing up daisies/ Watching you over there calling her baby/ Putting on a show to see/ Like you know looking at youās killing me.ā
Pearce announced last month that she would release a deluxe edition of her latest studio record, hummingbird, and debuted the stunning first song from the extended album, āno rain.ā She said when she announced hummingbird: no rain, no flowers that āāhummingbirdā was my healing journey after ā29.ā I felt like there were a few more songs to be shared before I close this chapter.ā New tracks on the album ā which Pearce produced with longtime collaborators Shane McAnallyĀ andĀ Josh Osborne ā also include āheart firstā and live renditions of āOklahomaā and āThings I Donāt Chase.ā The deluxe album arrives on March 14.

āI have been working so hard on this album for the last few years, and it just feels awesome to finally have it out to the world and to see the way that people are loving it,āĀ Pearce said ofĀ hummingbirdĀ in a previous interview with iHeartCountry. āI think I had a bigger voice and a bigger presence in not only the songwriting this round, but just in the production, and I really got to have a big hands-on part in how every single song sounded. ā¦I feel like they [McAnally and Osborne] really understand me as an artist, and so, getting to go back into the studio this time around with them was just really awesome. We knew what we wanted to do.ā
Pearce said āthe biggest payoffā of writing and recording music is performing it live and connecting with listeners in person. The singer-songwriter is in the midst of her headlining world tour, which wraps up on May 16 with a show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. See the remaining dates here.
