Katy Perry prompted Luke Bryan to dance an Irish jig on American Idol, and the country hitmaker had the best response. Idol hopeful Thomas Patrick Moran stepped into the audition room full of energy, telling the celebrity judge panel — Perry, Bryan and Lionel Richie — that four of his five older siblings were born in Ireland and his mom, an Irish step dancer, “made us do some Irish step growing up.”
That’s when Perry drew a coincidence, telling Moran that “Luke has had this love for Irish dancing for like 10 years.” Shaking his head, Bryan insisted “I’m not Irish.” Still, as Moran began to dance, Perry suggested: “I think you guys should do a jig-off!”
“Actually, I’ve blown the a** out of my jeans, and I’d like to stay right here,” Bryan hilariously said as he declined the offer. Perry got up and tried her hand at the jig with Moran, and Bryan finally agreed to get an Irish jig lesson when Moran’s mom entered the audition room.
“The only unmarried and childless sibling is Thomas Patrick Moran, but his nieces and nephews make up for that,” American Idol’s caption reads of Moran’s audition video. “He had the TIME OF HIS LIFE (ding!) but does he ever get to start singing and stop talking!?”
