Darius Rucker Surprises Workers, Patrons At South Carolina Diner

It's not every day that you go out to a restaurant, enjoy a nice meal, and discover that the tab has already been paid, but that's exactly what happened to diners at a Mount Pleasant IHOP over the weekend. Who do they have to thank? None other than Grammy-award winner Darius Rucker.

Workers and patrons alike were grateful after learning the Charleston native quietly paid for the entire restaurant's meals while he was enjoying his own on Sunday (January 24). Before leaving, he also left a "very generous" tip for all the servers to share.

"We know him because he does come in quite often and we consider him a regular," said Stephen Vitale, general manager at the Mount Pleasant IHOP.

Vitale said that Rucker approached him after finishing his meal and asked about paying for the meals of everyone dining inside, which he described as a "full restaurant."

Though Vitale didn't disclose the total amount of Rucker's generosity, he said it caused a lot of excitement for all. Many people didn't realize they were eating alongside the famed musician as he wore a mask when he wasn't eating. Those who did recognize him, however, thanked him for his kind gesture.

As Vitale simply put it, "It was a good morning at IHOP."
