The Oscar slap heard around the world is still not resolved. Well at least in Will Smith's mind. Chris Rock says he's "fine."
Smith took to social media (with 3 camera angles and a well versed apology), to apologize to the comedian Chris Rock for his outburst at the Oscar's. Many people call it "The slap heard round the world", but Will would like the world to put it to rest. Will said Chris still won't talk to him.
I'd guess Will is sincere in his apology but it just seemed so staged and put on. Was it really for Chris? Or was it to show out for his legion of fans and the public?
Will said he's tried to reach out to Chris but, "he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.”
Chris Rock hasn't fully addressed the controversy or how he's feeling about it now, but he has made a few jokes about it. He appeared at The Fox Theater in Atlanta just after the video from Will went public and made a few cracks at it saying, "Everybody is trying to be a f***ing victim,” Rock said, according to PEOPLE. “If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims. Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids.”
According to source close to Chris, "[He] doesn’t need to talk. This is clearly something that bothers Will more than Chris,” a source told PEOPLE. “Will needs to deal with his issues. Chris is fine.”
Chris Rock can't be too angry. His ticket prices skyrocketed and he was thrust back into a massive spotlight with the incident that has lit a fire in his comedy career again.
I'd guess we'll start to see Chris in a lot more movies again with the resurgences and Will's career will take a slow upswing but he'll be back in good graces in no time.
