Around 10:20pm Saturday night a Tornado Warning was issued for Canadian County after a tornado was spotted on radar. Residents in El Reno only had a few minutes warning to take cover. A tornado touched down in El Reno first hitting a mobile home park followed by the American Budget Travel Inn and a nearby auto dealership
Our news partner KFOR reports that as many as 34 people were in the hotel when the tornado struck.
Andrew Skidmore with Canadian County Emergency Management confirmed to KFOR that 2 people have died as a result of the tornado.
The VFW at 1515 S. Rock Island in El Reno, opened its doors to help those who were in need of a place to stay.
