This Amazing 'Watch Out The Kids Are Watching' Moments

On this day in 1945, U.S. Marines raised the American flag on Iwo Jima. Which makes the timing of this story even more special! Our kids came home telling us how their bus driver did something so out of the ordinary, it actually got them talking. With a bus load of kids, on the normal route home, he suddenly pulls over to a random house on their path and gets out of the bus. Of course as you can imagine, the kids went from all the usual talk, laughing and shouting, to a full hush as they watched the bus driver rush up the pathway to an American Flag, the wind had tipped to the ground. He gently scooped it up and carried it to the front door of that home and waited patiently to give it to the home owner. After a brief exchange, they say he saluted the gentleman at the door, and thanked him for his service, before returning to the bus and continuing on their path home. It was a very emotional moment as our kids described the bus driver's actions and such an amazing example of patriotism and respect of those who have served. I was blown away not only at what had happened but the precious way our kids described it and the impact it had on them!
