A wealthy Florida couple expected to quietly hunker down during Hurricane Irma last week. Instead, they found themselves becoming foster parents for 70 kids.
When Marc and Jennifer Bell found out that a shelter housing 70 foster children and their caretakers had lost power and needed a place to go, they opened the door to their Boca Raton mansion and invited them all over.
They figured it would be for just a few hours, but they ended up staying for three days. All of the kids, ages two through 17, slept in sleeping bags and enjoyed the amenities, especially the 800 meals that were prepared for everyone.
The Bells offered everyone showers and laundry and the girls were treated to manicures. 100 friends and relatives also stopped by to help out, as did singers and clowns who came over to keep everyone entertained.
Shortly after the ice cream trucks arrived, the kids got word that the power at their shelter had been restored, so they expressed their thanks and left.
The Bells said the kids were all respectful, polite and clean and they really enjoyed having them over. (USA Today)
