America's love affair with bacon is at an all-time high, and as a result, the supply of the fatty, smoky treat is at an all-time low.
Pig farmers are reporting two words that no American wants to hear -- bacon shortage. The supply of bacon isn't able to keep up with the overwhelming demand, which is why prices are dramatically rising. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the frozen pork belly inventory totals 17.8 million pounds, which is the lowest level since 1957.
Foreign demand for bacon is also contributing to the decline in inventory. But despite the terrifying news, experts say the bacon supply will not run out.
