Carrie Underwood Teams Up With Joan Jett For New 'SNF' Show Opener

We're just a couple weeks away from the official start of the NFL season; which means Sunday Night Football will be back in all its glory.

Carrie Underwood has previously sung for the SNF Show Open and NBC just revealed that the country superstar will be back this season for the seventh consecutive year — but she's not alone. Legendary performer Joan Jett will team up with Underwood to perform “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night."

The song is adapted from Jett's hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and if it sounds familiar it's because it's a nod to the first-ever NBC SNF open in 2006.

“I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open,” Underwood said in a press release. “What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”

The pair most recently linked up at CMA Fest for an amazing live duet.

The timing of the song isn't a huge surprise given that Underwood was facing a lawsuit from another singer for allegedly stealing her 2018 Sunday Night Football theme song.

For fans of both Underwood and football, you can catch a sneak peek of the new SNF Show Open this Sunday night (August 25) during the Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Tennessee Titans preseason game. The full 2019 NBC Sunday Night Football Show Open will debut on Sunday, September 8.
